Pie Contest

WHEN and WHERE:

Saturday, July 4 @ Saxtons River Inn, 27 Main Street

PIE SUBMISSIONS:

Drop off your pie between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., the morning of Saturday, July 4.

When you drop off your pie, there is a brief form for you to fill out,

  • Description of your pie

  • Baker name and contact info

  • Does your pie have a story? An old family recipe perhaps, of a new favorite. We’d love to know.

JUDGING:

Pies will be judged based on a comprehensive set of criteria with special emphasis placed on creativity. We love to see bakers stretching the boundaries of flavor and technique.

We have an esteemed panel of judges for this year’s contest,

  • Eric Baumann - CPO (chief pie officer), and pie enthusiast

  • Blessing Yen - owner, and head chef at The Harvest Barn Inn in Bellows Falls, VT

  • Tori Mitchell - head chef at Maison Victoria in Westminster, VT

  • Peter Baumann - deputy director of pie affairs and poster design, and pie enthusiast

PRIZES:

  • Prizes will be awarded for the three best pies, overall.

  • Both sweet and savory pies are welcome, however there will not be separate judging categories this year.

  • In addition, there will be a prize awarded to the best young baker, for the finest pie submitted from a baker under 18.

  • Gift baskets for the winners are sponsored by the Saxtons River Village Market.

  • All bakers will receive a limited edition print of this year’s poster as a thank you for their submission.

All remaining pie slices will be sold during and after the parade to help cover Fourth of July Celebration expenses.
